The author, General Arnold Brown, was world leader of The Salvation Army from 1977 until the end of 1981. Earlier, he served for 5 years as Chief of the Staff, second-in-command, of this global movement. In both positions, he demonstrated concern for those who had been associated with that Salvation Army in China during its more than 40 years of vigorous spiritual ministry and the organising of vast relief operations in times of flood and famine.
