General Arnold Brown was world leader of The Salvation Army from 1977 until the end of 1981. Earlier, he served for 5 years as Chief of the Staff - second-in-command - of this global movement and as leader of the work throughout Canada and Bermuda.He was an Officer of the Order of Canada, a Freeman of the city of London, England and had been granted honoris causa  the degrees of L.H.D (Asbury College, U.S.A.) add D. D. (Olivet College , U.S.A.).While in London he received from Earl Mountbatten of Burma the World Humanitarian Award shortly before the Earl's untimely death.
